Hello,

I'm looking for messages when sent to pd do usefull stuff.

Example :

I need something to open the audio/midi settings windows from a subpatch, without need to go to menu bar and I can't find any documentation about all these kind of messages.

Pd-extended (even though it's dead) has some good examples on messages, but I don't think there is such a message that opens up the MIDI/Audio dialog...

You can open the audio dialog with a message (in extended.... as @Alexandros says...... maybe not in vanilla)
with the message [audio-properties( sent to pd..... [s pd]....... but it opens the audio dialog window and you have to click "ok"........
But in the second window you can get most parameters without opening the window.......
............then back to the first window to write them.........


set get audio.zip
.........I still prefer extended until I get a thorough understanding of the tcl for vanilla..... and maybe even then.........
All the gui stuff that we would like can be added to vanilla as well of course......... but it takes time....
For midi there is a [midisettings-help] file in extended that relies on its associated .dll........

@whale-av impressive.. good to make me think.. what library you are using? I tried it in pd-extended 0.42-5 and nothing.. (OSx).

Documentation about these kind of tricks are welcomed!!

@emviveros Hello..... I had mistakenly typed [audio-dialog( instead of [audio-properties( in the text (corrected above) but everything in the two patches above works in extended 0.43.4 (the last version) under windows....

@whale-av I really missing the boat.. but now it's all ok! the lybrary is mediasettings, looking more calmly I could see. I installed it with deken in vanilla .46-7 and works like a charm... Very good patch...

@heyok I have a similar question: for pd .46-7 on a raspberry pi, do you know how to open the OSS-MIDI, or MIDI settings window?

the "; pd midi-properties" message opens up the ALSA-MIDI or ALSA MIDI settings window, I'm trying to open the OSS-MIDI or MIDI Settings window.

I tried "; pd midi-settings" message.

Let me know if you have any ideas.
