    Hi all,

I'm excited about the new BETA release, especially the new GUI possibilities, but I have no idea, none, zippo, how to implement some of these (especially the Hide Cords functionality).

Can someone pretend I'm a complete moron and tell me exactly how to use these examples found on this page: http://puredata.info/docs/guiplugins/SimpleExamples/

    I'm on Win 7 64 bit.

    Cheers!

    Bill

    Hi everyone,

I'm sure there's an easy way to do this but the more I dig into it the uglier my patching is getting. Can anyone show me a simple way to dynamically change the operation in an expre~ statement such as:

    [expr~ $1 < $2]

I'd like to use radio buttons or something similar to be able to change the < to ==, &&, and others in the patch to achieve different sounds.

I'm taking a snippet (well more than a snippet) from Derek Holzer's tutorial on synth building here: http://en.flossmanuals.net/PureData/SquarewavesAndLogic (scroll to bottom) if you'd like to see more of the context.

    Thanks in advance...

    Hi everyone,

Sorry for an obvious question (I've been reading/searching/trying all week)...but, I'm playing around with building a patch to make up for a 'lack' in ableton live having to do with the follow actions that it uses...to not go into too much detail, ableton allows you to put trigger options on the end of clips that randomly selects another clip in it's 'column' but it would be good to be able to dictate other options, like playing samples from other 'columns' (files) etc.

Anyway, so I thought I'd begin by building a simple multi-wave trigger player, but I'm confused with all of the various sample playback objects...readsf, tabread, tabread4, sampleplayer, etc..

Can anyone explain the best uses of each? I know that most put the sampled sound into ram (via an array right?) but I playback very long samples (8 to 10 at the same time, often 5-8 minutes duration each).

I'm not interested in manipulating the sounds as they play, just trigger, and allow to either loop, or randomly select another sample from a designated file.

So, my questions are...can someone explain the differences and best uses of each of the sample playback objects?

And two, could someone help me or point me in the right direction to add the functionality of having each 'playback strip' be able to either loop or with a toggle switch, randomly select and playback sample from a pre-selected file?

Thanks...I've attached my baby-patch that I've worked on today with...I've er, stolen from most of you here :P

    Thanks,

    Bill

    hi,

i'm trying to add some externals to my start up paths (but they're all taken, how do i add more paths?)

but also, in the process of attempting to do this, i know see this in my pd window:

    "error parsing startup arguments"

don't know if that actually effects anything, but being anal, i've reinstalled pd...but it's still there. is it something to worry about, and what does it mean?

    thanks all :)

    Hi everyone,#

I've downloaded and attempted to instal percolate on pd but can't get it to work...can anyone talk me through it -very slowly- :)

    I'm on a pc.

Also, I can't seem to find the list that shows all the extensions included with the latest pd-extended...anyone know where I can find that so I don't keep reinstalling stuff that's already there?

And any suggestion on extensions to instal that aren't included?

    Thanks from a newbie,

    Bill

Thanks..yep, ugly it is...I have to admit though, that I couldn't figure out how to patch your example...still don't use PD enough to get it from the diagram. If you or anyone else had time to knock it together for me, I'd appreciate, but don't worry if not, as my ugly version works (it's not like the patch that it's in is pretty either, it's a mess too :) haha.

    Thanks,

Actually, is I'm only using one expr with different argumtents, does that count as expr for each? Can anyone tell me if my solution below is less efficient than Maelstorm's?

    Thanks,

Thanks both of you, and yeah, to be honest, they're mostly drones and field recordings, so accurate timing isn't really an issue, just don't want hiccups etc.

Any idea about how to have it select samples from random? I can't seem to find anything about this?

    Thanks,

    Hey ya,

I used to be from Austin and if you contact the Austin New Music Coop, you might find some members there that would be interested. They do various different projects but I know for a fact that some of their members are Max/msp/Supercollider/Kyma users, so I'm betting some would take on a PD project etc.

If you google them you'll find 'em.
