@druffdan It just means that computers cannot "guess".... and we humans are very bad at writing good titles.............
In fact you can see that in your own title.... the word "search" probably being the only "useful" word for a future "searcher"!
((I have no special talent in this area, by the way; some of my content can even be mis-interpreted))
David.
True enough, but the problem is most frustrating when I have been reading through a thread on a particular subject, with a keyword in the title. Then the next day try to find it again by searching for the exact keyword, only to be presented with posts not containing the keyword, (sometimes not even any letters from it!!)
I shall save some examples next time it happends!
@druffdan Yes, that would be annoying! And it might explain why my browser "favorites" bar has a few thousand entries at the moment.... I have had similar problems in the past...
David.
@druffdan totally agree!
I have to look at it.
Will post back here.
Cheers
I've often had issues with built-in forum search engines. My usual workaround is to use the advanced search options of a real offsite search engine to point at the forums' domain. Surprising the amount of stuff that suddenly appears that you never would have known was there.
One thing I noticed was that there are a lot of threads that should be linked in the "tags" section -- and by that I mean the tags that are already listed there -- but aren't. I'm not really sure how that section is supposed to work, thou i.e. if those tags are supposed to be manually linked by users or automatically linked by the site.

thanks guys, BTW, my 2nd post in this thread seems completely garbled, I must have accidentally clicked in the text box mid-typing. apologies for that!!
ah!, forum update just came through and it is fine now. Ghosts in the machine
Hi!
Sorry to bring back this old thread, but I'm having real issues searching on this forum, which makes it frustrating to use.
I'm having the same issues as @druffdan that when I enter keywords and search for "Titles only" I never get results with the keyword in the title.
Is it my browser or do other people have the same issue?
best
M
@heindlpower Yes.... there is some kind of spell check going on......... if I search for "noob" in the left hand search (advanced) it finds "knob" everywhere first.......... and maybe "noob" if I am lucky.
In the simple search on the right side it will only find "knob".
Am I a search "noob"? or does it think I am really a ........?
David.
and if I search for "fade" in "titles only" I get completely random, unrelated posts. Not even one word between the results is in common.
To me that seems to be a deeper issue than an autocorrect…?
Martin
@heindlpower Yes....... the only match for "fade" in either search bar is that in its own proud "results speed bar".
The only solution is to go to google and do a search for "pdpatchrepo fade"........
Something else is wrong though........ having done a search on this site the window to upload is screwed....... uploading other files than the one selected........ and my browser has a memory leak that is starting to make my laptop burn my knees.
Something is up?!
Yes google search is the way to go, I should do something about it (removing search and make a custom page for using google).
Oops! Looks like something went wrong!
