I made this a while ago, just a bit of fun really - I guess the guts could be useful for some sort of vocoder.

That's bloody hilarious mate.
Ok if I borrow your arm flapping robot graphics for one of my teaching demos?
Here's a similarish random voice thing called "gemlins"
We should make a Pd cartoon or something, with just electronic nonsense being spoken like in Weebles toons.

Lets do it!
Borrow away, I really like your patch btw - I'll have to see if I can build some gremlins to go with it

ha ha... i love this place. like being part of some small village that just happens to have excellent programmers and musicians.
Aye, and how was your Euro-tour? I'm sorry we never got to meet up when you were in London, did you find Claude?
btw, I'm not ready to announce as news yet because there's a few more pages to go, but there's an update on obiwannabe.co.uk that might be of interest - check out the new "birds" tutorial
best,

Cheers m8,
So - without using GEM, the only way to animate something seems to be with datastructures. Does anybody think it's realistic to make little stick men type animations and have them run about the screen using only datastructures. Is that reasonable or doable? That would be the basis for an animation or simple Pd game,
Here's a sound fx that might also go with the robot, I think it's also on my site as an example - sorry it's got a bug so you need to hit the bang twice

One of the most funniest patch ever Still laughing!!!
Great !
Alberto
I made some goblins to go with the gremlin sounds...
Maybe we could use message box based scripting to move objects around in the normal patch window and animate connections? Might be quite cool to have the animation integrated with the patch's functioning?
It might mean we could eventually port the cartoon to pdpod as well which would be fun!
btw I think some of synth guts of mumble were ported from something else - can't remember what or where but all credit to them! Probably max as I made the patch to convince someone into making the change to PD.
Obi - I haven't tried the robot sounds yet, but I'll have a look later
Man, those are just hilarious!
It must have taken you ages to place all the canvases, and the moving eyes
and mouths are just brilliant in time with the chatter.
Now, two things are really missing before we have a toon... a way to "group"
all of those objects inside another GOP abstraction/subpatch so they can move
about a bit, and (maybe) a way to make "speech bubbles" appear.
But it would be best if a funny animation could be made that didn't need
any language explanation. Maybe slapstick where they get into a fight and start
hitting each other with pans Reeves and Mortimer style? I have some great
sound synths for doing the pan hits

I agree
I love Reeves and Mortimer! There's definitely some scope for a ship's engine I feel
Oops! Looks like something went wrong!
