The [sudden_motion_sensor] external is part of the Apple library that comes with PD Extended. If you have never changed any startup info then it should load by default.
-
wow this is awesome, thanks
-
Huh...on my version it doesn't load by default...
Anyway, just click on "Startup..." from the Pd-extended menu. In the window, click "New..." and type in "apple". Click "OK" and restart Pd. You should be set.
Alternatively, if you don't want the library to open every time, just for patches that need it, you can add an [import apple] object to the patch, save, and reload it.

Really? Weird. I've never changed any startup info successfully so I assumed it must be in some plist somewhere.

Hey my first post on here. I am using 2.2 Ghz macbook pro with 10.5.6. I have downloaded the newest version of PD extended but I cannot find the libraries or documentation anywhere. (In fact I downloaded another version of PD to have the tutorial documentation.) A few things seem to missing in terms of useful externals but this apple thing doesn't seem to be found either. Where can I d/l it from maybe ? I tried to do the above and load on startup but to no avail. How does PD extended read from it's libraries if I can't find them on my mac ?
-
Oh forgot to say that it also couldn't create grid....
-
All good now. What a cool little patch. Cheers.

That's great to hear. Could you please share your solution. I had a similar problem a while back and ended up deleting and re-downloading pd.

if anyone wants a hacked version via perl then bosh http://www.mediafire.com/?wyozx1ycgda ... it's rubbish, but i try to stay clear of pd-extended because i'm a spartan mofo.

lwimsett- Not sure on what was going wrong with my PD but it was something to do with the plist. I even deleted everything and re downloaded it but that could of been because it was still installed on my windows partition using bootcamp.
In this thread http://puredata.hurleur.com/sujet-619-port-percolate
Arif posted this plist which seems to work.I copied this plist into my PD contents folder and it loaded the libraries but now it opens with 6 channel I/O in the audio preferences. Not much hassle to change though. See if this works...
