A little background...
I've been playing with sound/music creation under linux for a few years now using various JACK based tools. My bread and butter have been the specimen sampler, the hydrogen drum machine, ALSA modular synth, and sooperlooper.
I've messed around with csound a bit and become frustrated.
Anyway, I have a good understanding of digital audio and sound in general (I'm an electrical engineering undergrad). I'm a total puredata newbie though, and looking to get started.
I have puredata installed, but don't really know how to take the plunge. Are there examples that come with the ubuntu package? Any recommended online tutorials?
Thanks.
I just installed ubuntu studio on my lappie, with a little help of a more confident linuxer. We tried to get ubuntu studio 64 bit to work, but for some reason PD extended was a bitch to get to work on that thing. Installed the 32 bit instead, and things are seemingly up and running with PD extended, althoug had some issues with slow video playback in GEM, but that's prolly a codec issue or something I guess...
