Delete object ?

I,
I am aware of the methods that can be used in a message box to create objects, supatches etc...(in manuals=>pd_msg=>1.msg_and_patch=>0.all_msg.pd))

I would like to be able to delete a single object in a patch, but the clear function delete all objects. Is there a way to to that?

Ok, I have find a solution, sending the message "find my_object, cut" to my subpatch. (the find function is also able to select the object )

I have another problem now :

I have made a real time 3d sequencer for a multitouch screen using physical modeling and pmpd. Each object (or instrument) can be moved in the stage. The aim was to be able to create and delete this object if we need to, but when I move one of them to the "trash zone", PD crash...probably because the object is moving?

Is there another way to delete an object while it is used?

I am trying to make this work, but am struggling.

? you're sending that to the canvas? the 'find' message to a canvas takes objectname, wholeword arguments.
also it seems like it expects the find dialog to be open..

My standard tricks are to just do the delete in a subpatch which contains the object and the i/o for the object and send a [clear( to the subpatch. Downside is you have to recreate the i/0 for new objects. Sometimes I also use abstractions and iemguts/canvasdelete and something like this in the abstraction.

On load it sends the abstractions arguments, name and $0 to the main patch where I stick it in a text file, when I want to delete an abstraction I search the text, get the required $0/name and send a bang. Generally I make the final argument to each abstraction something which will make it easy to find when it comes time to delete that abstraction. It can get messy but I generally find I can keep things neat if I design around this and my needs in this regard are modest.

Edit: I do this because I have never gotten the [find( and [cut( messages to work, I have no idea why but I was more interested in the result than figuring out why, complete hack and workaround for my own laziness.

Another one of my work arounds which I use more often since it makes deleting multiple objects easier, [iemguts/canvasselect].

Hmmm.... iemguts is not working for me. It has been awhile since I have uploaded a library of objects.

iemguts-0.1 was what I was trying to upload. Any ideas on why it is not working? I am on a mac. and using pd 51.4.

Trying to use canvasselect but it cannot be found.

@raynovich If you installed it through deken all you should need to do is specify the path either in the preference->path, or in the patch with [declare -path iemguts] or in the object by calling the object with its path [iemguts/canvasdelete].
