Anyone in mac ever made an aggregate audio device and had [dac~ 1 2] into one device and [dac~ 3 4] into another? It seems in other systems you can have up to 4 devices in audio settings, right? can someone confirm that for me in Windows? And it works in the same way I wanted and described with [dac~], right?

@porres Yes, on MacOS 14.4.1 using Pd 0.54.1, I created an aggregate device using the built in speakers and my Yamaha 01V96i. [dac~] inputs 1 and 2 output to the built in speakers, and inputs 3 and 4 output to the first two USB sources on my mixer. I've never tried on a Windows machine though.

PS Oh but to get inputs 1 and 2 working I had to fiddle with the volume control a little, not sure why

PPS And to be clear I used Audio MIDI Setup in MacOS to create the aggregate device, not the "Use Multiple Devices" option in Pd (which may not be an option on a Mac, also not sure)

@porres In windows Pd can address 4 devices as you say.
Using ASIO4All more soundcards can be addressed and specific inputs and outputs removed from the final list that is passed to Pd as a single ASIO4All device..

@porres i switch to a multi-output device I created with Blackhole 2ch and the regular output in order to capture the desktop audio in mac with OBS - but that just mixes the two channels.

so to test that with an aggregate device -

• list item1 - had to make sure 4 channels is set up in PD, fortunately PD reports amount of devices created in the console

• list item2 Blackhole had to be set to 48k - but PD's setting didn't matter

you can see the muted mic audio blow up in OBS when it's actually playing through my speakers into the laptops mic
