Hi everyone!

I'm a complete novice when it comes to Raspberry Pi, PureData, Python, and this whole world of electronics in general so I could really use some help with this project I'm working on.

Basically what I'd like to do is send numerical values from an environmental sensor HAT on the Raspberry Pi GPIO pins to PureData in real-time to control effects autonymously. This would all be on the same Raspberry Pi. I've heard Python may work as a good communicator between the hardware sensors and PureData, so I'm just wondering if other people have successfully managed to create a functional real-time data stream from the GPIO pins into PureData.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

Just want to say that, despite wiring pi is deprecated, I was still using it recently with last wiring pi 2.52 version from 2019 with puredata http://wiringpi.com/news/

I also remember using the sensor HAT long time ago, and I just modified some python scripts to send sensor data to pd using the network and [netreceive].

Just to throw in that there are [pispi] and [pii2c] by the late Martin Peach, which enable SPI and I2C communication, respectively, directly in Pd, made especially for the Pi. They are pretty neat.

If I'm not mistaken, they are available through apt-get, but I might be mistaken Can't remember where to find them, but it shouldn't be difficult.

under Raspbian OS, I tried:

apt-cache show pd-pispi

and

apt-cache show pd-pii2c

but found nothing

Just checked the Pd mailing list and saw that I had posted that they are available in deken.

Ok, I start from looking in deken at first.

But It turns out that I had to uncheck "hide foreigner architecture" to find them... thanks!

@60hz I thought of writing that, but then, what's the use of these objects if not used with a Pi? Unless you're downloading them from your computer and transferring to the Pi, in case the Pi is not connected to the internet...

I agree with you, but I need to uncheck the box from a pi to see those objects! which feels strange...
