I know that if you send a [border 0< message to the Gemwin object it will make the border of the Gem window disappear.

But is there a way you can get the top menu bar (PD-Extended File Find Media Window Help) to disappear? So that when you send a [fullscreen 1< message to the Gemwin you can create true fullscreen?

Any suggestions?

I've found a way. It's called "LSUIPresentationMode". Basically,using Property List Editor.app, open Pd-extended.app/Contents/Info.plist. Add a "New Child" to "Root". Call that node "LSUIPresentationMode" change the data type to "Number" and set the data to be "4". Then when you launch Pd-extended.app, the Menubar and Dock will auto-hide themselves.

How to open Info.plist?
i tried to find what you that "Property List Editor.app" you said but couldn't really figure it out so i can't keep trying. Maybe a little more info will help a lot.

just tried it and i can confirm it works.

the instructions are for mac os x, so if you're using a different os i imagine the procedure will be different.

in mac os x there is an application called "Property List Editor.app" in the "Utilities" folder. launch the app, go to "file", then "open" and then navigate to wherever the PD application is on your hard drive. click on PD, then click on "contents" and you should see a file called "info.plist". open this file and you should be able to press the button that says "New Child" and follow the rest of the instructions from there.

..there's a more easy and efficient method :

-send a "border 0" message to "gemwin" (i think you guessed it up...)
-then a "offset -800 0" message to "gemwin" that puts the gem window 800 pixels left to the original position, if you set the second desktop at the left of the Main Desktop;for osx or windows, no problem; for linux search for Xinerama....

-the last, but not the least: "dimen 800 600" message to gemwin to set the dimensions of gemWin....

suppose you want put your rendered pic onto a video projector
therfor you add a ""message" via "put" saying: fullscreen 2 and "connect the message to the "gemwin" object, that's all of course you must set the preferences of mac OSX
monitor adequatly and then drag the second or fullscreen 2 outside your desctop, to the right side there you have the rendred picture and your desktop is your patch commander.....

Hi. I also need a true fullscreen to send to a projector, but I am using a laptop, so, unless I am mistaken, using the second screen is not an option. The "border 0" instruction does not work and I cannot find the Property List Editor.app on my Max OSX operating system. While I try to download the latter, does anyone have another suggestion?

Why using the 2nd screen should not be an option? I've used it quite some time on a mac and it worked fine..

I can't test it out right now, since it is not my computer on which I am planning on running the patch. So how do I set the laptop to send the image of the non-existent second screen to the projector?

on mac you can try the [fullscreen 2( message or specify the dimensions and location of the second screen directly with:

[dimen <X dimension of 2nd screen> <Y dimension of 2nd screen>(
and
[offset <offset X from left main screen corner> <offset Y from upper main screen corner(
and
[menubar -1(
and
[border 0(

I understand this, but how do I tell the projector to project the imaginary second screen (this is a laptop) and not the first screen?

You go to system preferences -> Displays and there you make sure the 'Mirror displays' (or something like that) is NOT clicked. If it's clicked the projector will project your screen, if it's not clicked it will appear as a second screen.
