gridSampler1.pd
This is my latest patch. When the random object jumps to a different phase position pops occur. Im not sure how to avoid pops? Is there a way to make the volume dip very quick for the duration of the pop perhaps ?
Many Thanks

Phase position. Sample Slicing POP's !

Without having seen your patch, I can imagine a sudden phase change can create clicks (or pops). Perhaps you can smooth out these phase changes by filtering the phase with a [lop~ 20] or maybe a lower frequency.

something else to try if you are feeling ambitious is to try Miller's switch-and-ramp technique by reading the array value at the control level and when you jump use line~ (not vline~) with snapshot~ to create the opposite discontinuity and add it to the output signal

:S, I'm not sure how much understand this yet. Im not sure what and how to send the values to line~.? becuase it needs to go quickly from the equvilant amp of the pop to zero. Once its at zero is then needs to be readyto jump to the value of the pop to decay back down again?....the elipses in the block diagram i think is the phaser in the patch ive linked at the top inside the subpatch grid sampler1. The phasor is wants receiving the discontinuity control. What to reckon to thi s?
ive begun attempting the block diagram to the right of the page here -
Since you're resetting [phasor~]'s phase, which happens in the control domain, rather than the signal domain, you'll most likely to get clicks. That's why I suggested lowpass filtering [phasor~]'s output with [lop~ 20] (or even [lop~ 50], the higher the frequency the more responsive the output, but the less smoothed).
This will smooth out the sudden changes. So, then connect [lop~ 20] to [s~ phase], [s~ phase2] and [unsig~ 20] (well, [unsig~ 20] doesn't really need to get a smooth phase change). -
It doesnt disquise or the reduce the click so much. it changes its timbre a bit.Is there a function that can dip the volume for the length of the click and return to the normal level like a gate ?

@Fauveboy sort of.......

Do you think this represents puckettes block diagram?

perhaps this actually, the toggle doesnt do anythig yet i was hoping it would trigger the line objects? and would the toggle trigger the same time the phase position hradio is adjusted?
