Ingox and I tried to build a vanilla midi step sequencer with data structures. We use the structoutput for activating and deactivating steps with the mouse. The scalingsystem and the vanilla uzi is from Ingox. This is our result so far: structsequencer.pd

Here it is with some slight modifications and without the error messages: structsequencer.pd (updated)

@ingox very nice!, the grid responds quite nicely on my touch screen
-
nice to hear that it works on a touch screen, that wasnt even our intention. can you draw "lines" with a touch screen or do you need to "klick" every step?
-
click every step.

thanks for your info, good to know.

while experimenting with a .tcl mouse plugin i also tried some new things with the sequencer. i removed the mouse plugin functionality in this version because i got lots of (annoying but harmless) error messages when the mousereceive object was missing in a patch, perhaps i will use an external for drawing functionality in the future. structsequencer_2048.pd

Thank you for this - I love the expanded version ... in principle(!) but I'm not getting any audio; nor am I getting any errors though ... Any ideas?

@nerdmunds thanks. the version above sends only midi data for sequencing externals synths.
here is a version with the blip-synth from @weightless it should work now if you put dsp on: struct+blip.zip -
