I would like to play some movies of mine with GEM.
To do so i have done the first patch shown on page 158 of this tutorial :

I have also put the movies to be played in the same directory of PD Extended.
But that does not work. I get the screen but no movie plays on it.
Any help ?

Hello,

I have 4 computers, 3 laptop and 1 desktop and everyone of them are running with vista.
1 laptop (Sony) and my desktop (HP) work fully with Pure Data Extended. That's ok. But my 2 others laptops (Sony) don't work fully with Pure Data Extended. I get the "PD extended" icon but i can get only the Pure Data (not extended) objects with them.
Any help possible ?

I have downloaded PD-extended 0.41.4 but i don't find any object of PD-extended. I find only the basic objects. Why ?

I try also to make abstractions but i really can't. It seems to be an easy thing to do but i really can't do anyone of them. Where could be my mistake ?

I am a recent user of Pure Data (but i am an old user of Plogue Bidule)
I would like to make a polyphonic synth.

I have only one trouble before to be able to make it all : It seems to me that the "MonoSynthAR~" object doesn't work right. I have made 4 of them but i can't connect them together. I am clear ? Any help ?

It is the very first thing i have made with both of my recalcitrant computers. I thought i was because of a mistake of mine. But not. At the second install, the things were the same as before. I got the "Pd-Extended" icon, but it was "unextended" in the facts.

To Pamelapopo : Oh sure, i tried to create any extra object i could be able to create ! For example moog~ (i like that one !). In vain.

I really do not understand that problem. I have 4 computers running with Vista.
2 work very fine with PD-Extended and 2 do not want to know anything about it. How strange...
Am i really the only one with this problem ?

I forgot to precise my question.
What i do with GEM is to modify colors parameters or little things like that in movies i make. The format is of my movies is .avi and i want to record .mov files. Nothing really complicated i think. But i can't do it yet...
Any help ?

I know 2 ways to record all the nice things i do already with GEM.

1. a first one is in the Pure Data FLOSS Manual
2. a second one is in the "help" of the "pix_record" GEM object
   I tried both ways, again and again, in vain. I know it's a common problem. Is there a common way to fix it ?

Well, just before i got to go to my work, i managed to put a few lines. Then i have restarted PD. Nothing happened. My lines are still there but that's all. So i restarted my computer. Nothing happened too. My lines are still there but that's all too. Is there something to do next to get the lines effective or the idea simply doesn't work ?

I've tried a litlle bit of that, just to get used with it. It's ok, i can do it. But not now. It's time to go and work ar this very moment. But in a fews hours, i will do the all thing.

Just one little question. The very first line to rewrite seems to be :
%SystemRoot%Fonts

It is important to rewrite this ? (and after comes C:/ProgramFiles/pd/extra/cyclon and so on)

No, it's not a silly reply. And let's try to make it effective. Because i see that everything is in order in my extra folder. There are cyclone, gem, flatspace, zexy and so on. So what should i do exactly in order to get and to use Pd-Extended ? Try to add the extra libraries manually to the Path (File--> Path...)? Well, how exactly ? I tried but it seems i don't know the right way to do so.

Q : what do you mean "you can't see it"?
A : Let's say i want to modify the balance of colors while i am watching a movie. If i try to modify a color parameter, the movie disappear because its screen close up. I mean i can modify the balance of colors but not while i am watching the movie in order to see in real-time what is the result of my modification.

I am french, so my english is not so good, but i have tried to be clear. Am i clear now ?

I am sure there is a way to see in real-time the result of a modification of a movie while doing this modification. Am i wrong to think so ?

Well, you speak about the registery, no ?
I got there a couple of times.
But what have i to do next ?
Double click on it ?
I have done that. But nothing happens. And it doesn't fix my problem. If i open Pd the problem is still there. It's not extended.
May be did i not double click the right way ?

The help patch was a real help (Argh ! I really should have known that trick !)
There is now a last little problem.
Ok, i can see the movie.
But my pd patch is on one screen and the movie on another. And when i want to modify my patch, i can't see the movie or when i see the movie i can't modify my patch. Is it possible to see the movie while i modify my patch ? I am sure it's possible. But how ? Any help ?
