Problem to get PD extended objects
Hello,
I have 4 computers, 3 laptop and 1 desktop and everyone of them are running with vista.
1 laptop (Sony) and my desktop (HP) work fully with Pure Data Extended. That's ok. But my 2 others laptops (Sony) don't work fully with Pure Data Extended. I get the "PD extended" icon but i can get only the Pure Data (not extended) objects with them.
Any help possible ?

No, it's not a silly reply. And let's try to make it effective. Because i see that everything is in order in my extra folder. There are cyclone, gem, flatspace, zexy and so on. So what should i do exactly in order to get and to use Pd-Extended ? Try to add the extra libraries manually to the Path (File--> Path...)? Well, how exactly ? I tried but it seems i don't know the right way to do so.

Open up one of your good installs of Pd-extended and take a look at the File->Path... and make your bad install look like that. Click the New... button and browse for the folder to make a new entry. Do the same thing with File->Startup... and see if that works.

I've tried a litlle bit of that, just to get used with it. It's ok, i can do it. But not now. It's time to go and work ar this very moment. But in a fews hours, i will do the all thing.
Just one little question. The very first line to rewrite seems to be :
%SystemRoot%Fonts
It is important to rewrite this ? (and after comes C:/ProgramFiles/pd/extra/cyclon and so on)

I'd try to make it look exactly like what you got with your good install of Pd-extended. I suppose you could need it at some point... only i have no idea where to find the path for this one. When i try to edit it in Pd it doesn't show the current path. Anyway, i m pretty sure you can take advantage of the most part of the extra objects without it.
Well, just before i got to go to my work, i managed to put a few lines. Then i have restarted PD. Nothing happened. My lines are still there but that's all. So i restarted my computer. Nothing happened too. My lines are still there but that's all too. Is there something to do next to get the lines effective or the idea simply doesn't work ?

Did you put corresponding information in both Startup... and Path...? For example, do you have cyclone in Startup... and C:/Program Files/pd/extra/cyclone in Path...? Also, in Startup... libdir *must* be first in order for it to work and load the libraries.
What do you mean by nothing happens? did you try creating an object from the extra library?

To Pamelapopo : Oh sure, i tried to create any extra object i could be able to create ! For example moog~ (i like that one !). In vain.
I really do not understand that problem. I have 4 computers running with Vista.
2 work very fine with PD-Extended and 2 do not want to know anything about it. How strange...

Have you tried downloading the installer again and making a fresh install?
It is the very first thing i have made with both of my recalcitrant computers. I thought i was because of a mistake of mine. But not. At the second install, the things were the same as before. I got the "Pd-Extended" icon, but it was "unextended" in the facts.

I'm beginning to think this is an issue with your system and that for some reason it won't let Pd update or read from the registry, though I don't actually know how that would happen. If you want to see if the registry does have Pd's preferences in it, goto Start->Run, type in "regedit" and click OK. Regedit should open. In the left pane there is a folder tree; open up My Computer -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Pd. In the right pane you should see something similar to the attached image (not all of it fit in the widow). If not, then it's obviously not getting updated.
That's how to do it in XP, anyway, but I think it's similar on Vista.
Please note that I am NOT asking you to update the registry, as I am definitely not an authority on it. But if you know what you're doing this is where you can bring in the pd-settings.reg file manually.
Other than that, I really can't think of anything else that could be the problem. You might want to bring this up on the Pd-list.
