I added flatgui and cyclone but still no [knob] or [counter].. I guess I am back to the old obsolete pd-extend 0.43.4. I hope there one day will be an updated version of extend, but I guess this is wish thinking.

I want to create a simple knob(dial) object to control the volume going to the dac but I cannot find the knob object in the vanilla PD. Should it be included? vslider and hslider works fine. In this video http://tinyurl.com/djkdslf the knob object is added by simply typing [knob] but this does not work for me.
Edit: Also just found out that [counter] is missing. This is the first time I use PD vanilla since I used to use pd-extend but I must be missing some installation or configuration steps here. Please advise.

I have just started using video in PD and I have an idea that I want to save a clip from my webcam and then replay this clip. Looking at the example GEM patch 00.SimpleVideo.pd the webcam is working OK but can I please ask if someone can advise how I can get started saving a short clip and also please suggest the best way it can be played back ? Thanks

I have created a simple Lua script and added it to the folder /home/user1/test/
I then add the following declare statement in PD:
[declare -path /home/user1/test]
But the script is not found.
(I have tried to put the script in many other folders like ~pd-externals etc but with the same result..)Any suggestions on how to set up a Lua script in PD?
(Also is there some way I can see the value of -stdpath?)

Hi Gilberto and thanks for very good advise. I tested "deken" and it works brilliantly, and as you say this will give me the best of two worlds. I also checked out l2Ork and this looks very interesting. However I run Ubuntu Studio 14.04 32bit at the moment and could not find a suitable package but I sent them an email asking how to best install because I really want to test this out as well. But I might consider doing an install of 14.04 64bit if that is the only option. Thanks again for the support!

Ok. Do you know if it will be back in development or is the package "dead"?

Looking at link this site the latest release of PD extend is:
Ubuntu/raring 13.04 deb http://apt.puredata.info/releases raring main
Does anyone know if a new distribution will be released? Who is maintaining these distros?

Thank you so much for the reply!
I now kind of understand what the commands were trying to do. I.e to download the .deb installation package.
I will give it a go with "trusty" which I belive is the closest match. Do you think it will work with the "trusty" version on Wily Werewolf? As mentioned before I am fairly new to linux but when installing I guess I can use similar instructions as found here ?

I just installed Ubuntustudio 15.10 Wily Werewolf 32bit on a thinkpad and I am trying to upgrade PD to extend. I am fairly new to linux but it seems like the instructions on https://puredata.info/docs/faq/debian fails.
This is the log from executing the commands. Any suggestions and help will be appreciated

For some time I have been using MAX/MSP and I have been writing externals in Java and some JavaScript snippets to support my logic. However I am very keen on moving towards PD and I am looking for the best and easiest way to write code on Pure Data? What language is best supported etc? Any suggestions on how to best get started is appreciated.
Thanks
