Hi. I'm from greece and i was thinking to create a community-website for puredata in greek language. Also because the most possible is to be a few only, i was thinking to create this community not only for puredata (maybe and supercollider, chuck, csound) and with general theory about sound synthesis in greek language.
If anybody likes the idea i will start it as soon as possible.

    Hi.
I installed pd-extended in mac but none of the externals is recognized. I also tried to copy a separate external folder in the preferences-->path but neither recognized them.

Also i saw that pd-vanilla is running better than pd-extended in mac. Is there any simple way to install my preferred externals in pd-vanillia.

    If anyone have any suggestion..

    Hi GloomyWyrd,

    You can check this patch::

It makes nice drones if you spent some minutes changing the controls and hearing the output sound. it is constituted of many sine waves modulating one another in various ways.

    Hi Alberto.

zmap makes a linear mapping of number-input to a specific number-output.
For example you write -1. 1. 500 1300. The first 2 numbers is the range of input and the 2 last numbers(500 1300) is the output.
scale is doing the same thing but adds the possibility to specify logarithmic(not linear) mapping.

ok. i find 2 patches of what i want!!

another question:: is there any object in pd similar of zmap or scale in MaxMsp? i found only autoscale but is not like zmap/scale.

    thanks

I think there are two options for less CPU load.
[vcf~] and [bp~] are two object of the main pd.
The [vcf~] needs more cpu but takes the frequency as an audio signal, which may thus change continuously in time without any clicks.
If you have constant values for the frequencies and Q, and you don't want to change them while audio input playing, then is better to use the [bp~] filter. You can check the help file of this object.

    Hi Alberto.
Very interesting ideas in the musical interaction with the gui.
The sound is good enough & one good point it is not sounds static, always seems it's changing, so is more natural listen. One criticism is that maybe (needs some work in the mapping of the sound synthesis parameters and the GUI parameters)::(in some places is very simple)::(that is not so good because you can recognize the algorithm-code...)
    Keep good working!!

Hi kidc. You are the only one for now!
I'm constructing this community and i think it will be open in some days.
The address is :: sound.wikidot.com but for now is closed.

I will inform in this topic when i make it public.

The next thing i want to do is to create loadbangs for default values.
Also sineSource needs some changes in it's internal operation because is very cpu expensive.

The ideas about a chord & reverb/delays are interesting but i must think about it and maybe i'll design something that will fit in this project idea.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I found a bug that made pd-extended not recognize the externals.
I deleted the preferences files org.puredata... in the directory ~/Library/Preferences. These files created with the pd-vanilla installation. So there is a problem installed together the pd-vanilla and the pd-extended in the same mac system?

I decide it by testing & hearing..
I wanted to make the amplitude to be stable while changing the resonance.

I think you can search the web or in this community for patches that other users had created for puredata. There are many useful patches out there. In the future you can start learning puredata and create your own special sounds or edit the patches you find from others.
    Good exploration!

Yes, you get simiral results but maxmsp is a commercial product and i think it's not so good as puredata but it has a better GUI.
