Is it possible to write an incremental audio file name automatically?

So, say I have a patch which is set to record an audio file to my desktop automatically that I want to call "test_01.aiff", is it possible to set it so that the next recording becomes "test_02.aiff" followed by "test_03.aiff" and so on, so that it's not overwriting one file continuously?

Pure Data running with Qjackctl under Ubuntu 9.10 on a Thinkpad T40

I get consistent DIO Errors in Pd - "A/D/A Sync" every few seconds causing audio drop outs.

I've tried all sorts of combinations of frame/buffer rates etc. in Jack with no joy.

It seems that something in Pd doesn't like Jack but not sure what I need to tweak. Any ideas?

    Many thanks in advance.

I'm trying to put together a patch where after a manual [bang], it records one minute of audio coming in from the adc~ and then automatically plays the recording back.

I've looked at [soundfiler] and [tabread] but am unclear on how to write a recording directly into [soundfiler]. The examples I've seen deal with writing data or opening pre-recorded audio files.

I'm sure I'm on the right track, just getting myself confused....

    Hi

I'm trying to find out if there is an object that acts like an audio version of the [gate] i.e. one audio input which can be thrown to multiple outputs controlled via a bang to determine the output channel.

Kind of like a reverse [mux~] I guess?

    Thanks

Does anyone know of a good approach to obtaining a violin like sound using a combination of different oscillators?

I'm trying various combinations of square and sine waves but I evidently need something more complex to get near the sound of a bowed string.

Any suggestions as to a good place to start?

Is it possible to make a patch in Pd that recognises the start of an incoming audio and translate that into a midinote or a bang?

I'm thinking specifically of a contact mic plugged into the audio-in of a laptop. When the contact mic is knocked, it triggers the patch via a bang.

Any suggestions? adc~ into mtof seems logical perhaps?

Another simple one that is currently escaping me.

Is it possible to attach the output from an audio object to a send object? I have an untidy patch where it would be useful to route the end of an audio signal to elsewhere, but obviously you can't link a signal outlet to a control inlet.

What the audio equivalent of a send object?

Silly question... what object is the reverse of [spigot~]?

[spigot~] has one input which can be thrown to one of two outputs using a toggle swtich.

Is there an object that can take two incoming audio streams and allow you to switch between them to one output?

I have an old but functioning Mac G3 Powerbook running OS 9.2.

Rather than it being consigned to being obsolete, I'd like to get some very simple Pd patches running on it.

Does anyone have any truly ancient versions of Pd that run under 9.2 lurking anywhere they'd care to post (or know of any legacy stuff still up online anywhere?)

    Hi

When I try and run Pd under Debian Lenny via Qjackctl, I get a constant DIO error "A/D/A sync" which causes a momentary audio drop out.

Any idea what I need to fix to stop this?

    Thanks

Does anyone know of a patch that does a reasonable emulation of a phase shifter guitar effect?

Any links or patches would be very helpful.

What would be the most simple way of getting a patch to start playing white noise, and then over a pre-determined length of time, for it to filter into a sine wave?

I'm thinking that using the [bp~] object to filter the [noise~] through to a very narrow "Q" range may do this... or an approximation at least.

Does anyone on here run Pd on an Asus Eeepc? The Xandros Linux flavour that is...

I've aquired one recently and would like to get Pd running on it but not sure which version to try and load and where to get it from (i.e. which repository etc.)

I've looked around and there doesn't seem to be any HOWTO type wiki's out there for Pd, just people who mention that they have it working but not much mention of how.

    Any tips/proceedures/walkthroughs gratefully received.

    Hi

Not sure how possible this is...

Is there a way within pd to grab the audio from a streaming website and then pass that signal through whatever effects patches you happen to have set up?

I guess this maybe possible using oggamp~ but not 100% sure?

Sorry, should just clarify that I'm really after the audio coming from a webpage, not specificially by grabbing the audio stream via icecast etc.

    Thanks

    Hi

Does anyone know where I can get oggcast~ and oggamp~ for pd running under debian etch i386?

I've tried installing the lateset pd-extended deb package but it doesn't recognise oggcast~ or oggamp~

    Any idea??

    Thanks

    Hello

Having a bit of trouble getting my head around structuring ramps using vline~ and wondered if someone would mind explaining it a bit.

I've looked at the vline~ help file but I'm evidently missing something....

    The example they give is:

    [1 1000, 0 0 1000, 1 1000 1000]

ramp up, jump down, ramp up again.

I understand the logic of the first ramp up as being "take 1000ms to reach 1" but beyond that I get a bit lost. Why two lots of zeros for the ramp down and then a 1 1000 to ramp back up?

What I want to do is to ramp up to 1 and then ramp back down again softly, kind of like having a [1 1000] message followed by [0 1000] but combined.

    Thanks

    Hi

I'm sure the answer to this is staring me in the face....

Please have a look at the attached.

I understand the line~ ramp that controls the smooth fade in and out of the volume of the patch, but how do I use that so that when I rebang to get a new random frequency, there's no click? I'm after a smooth transition from one frequency to the next.

I'm guessing its another "line" object, but not sure.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I'm trying to run pd on a G3 Powerbook running OS 9.2 but cannot locate a version that will run after it's un-stuffed.

Any clues as to the best version to install?
