I want to prepend a variable message (a list of floats) with set followed by a semicolon, which works ok enough, except that it always adds a "" (backslash) before the semicolon. I have to edit the message to get rid of it every time

is there a way of denoting a semicolon without actually typing it? or another solution - thanks in advance

ive worked it out- it's the add2 that is the crucial bit.

sorry about that, was trying to bump I very much appreciate your answer but I still havn't solved the issue. prepend object behaves differently from messages.

I cant find a way of adding a semicolon at the beginning of a "prepend set" message

ie prepend set, addsemi, add2 blah blah blah

results in \addsemi, blah blah blah or similar

I am confused by what you want to do with the semi-colon.
They are very special characters in Pd............ Pd interprets them.... like this:

p2_revised.pd

If your goal is to have both a variable receive name and a variable-length list of args, you can just use [send] with no arguments. Set the receive symbol using the right inlet, and then just send your variable-length message to the left inlet.

@whale-av thanks again, that simplifies it alot, Im still a little confused about how what a symbol is different from a list/ message, but I'm sure I'l work it out soon enough!
