Which hardware is currently recommended for running PureData in full duplex? (input and output mono at the same time)

I've been trying for a while with a RPi+Behringer UCA222 audio interface and CCRMA, but with no luck.

I was thinking about Udoo or Beaglebone Black.
Did anyone succeed to have full duplex working with those or with any other embedded computer? Do they need an external soundcard to work?

I have successfully used a raspi with the wolfson audio card. If the tweaking is done right (rt-kernel, limits.conf, etc), it is possible to achieve a low latency system (we're talking about 4ms with the most basic patch [adc~] - [dac~]). You also get 2x built-in mic and a stereo class d amplifier (2W).

I just ordered a Wolfson Audio Card, looking forward to it's arrival this week.

Most of the instructions I've seen are to compile the drivers for Raspbian. Looks like alot of installation help and support has come from the rpi community. I wonder if the drivers can be compiled for Satellite CCRMA.

I'm sucessfully using a cubieboard2 together with a miditech audiolink III. But I have to say that when my hdmi monitor is connected it fills the audio with harsh noise. I couldn't run the embedded audio I/O, only out was working so I had to buy an usb souncard.
Anyway this noise issue doesn't bother me as I intend to run the cubie as a headless system.

Cubieboard2 costs 5$ more than a BB black, as cubie2 has been outperformed by cubieboard 3, named cubietruck and its price is going down.

The webpage that gave me confidence in buying a cubie2 is here : http://linux.autostatic.com/2013/09/17/exit-beaglebone-black-hello-cubieboard2 . This guy (autostatic) has a repository with a nice SD image of a rt-patched debian Wheezy that rocks, and patched jackd that works on cubie (it's important), but it's a headless command-line distro. Anyway I managed to install a desktop environment on it without too much hassle even though I'm not a linux guru and I work on it every day with pd-extended (I had to compile it). I'm also writing externals to communicate with the gpio and It compiles like a charm.

@n6 Yes. I'm also compiling the rapsbian kernel (rt-patch + wolfson driver). There is a post on the community about having the wolfson driver included in the rapsbian kernel by default...

Never used the red hat family, so I cannot say for sure if it is easy or not. Please keep us inform about your progress.

Sorry if this is off topic to the full duplex question specifically, but I'm curious to see which embedded/dev/sbc board people have had the most success with in regards to Pd.

My initial work with the RPi was when it came out, and Pd wasn't too hot. I understand it has gotten leagues better, but I'm curious to see what the best board is for Pd.

@newmiracle I've tried Pd with the following boards - BeableBoard-xM, Udoo, Odroid. Now I'm working with a Raspberry Pi (I'm installing the Wolfson card drivers, this very moment, dunno if it will work).

The BeagleBoard isn't so fast, and I got quite some crashes, when I was feeding sound back to it (no external sound card used). I played some gig s with it though, but wouldn't rely on it. Haven't tried a BeagleBone Black yet, it's in my future plans.

Udoo seems good, it seemed to kind of work with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, with some drop outs (only ALSA, I'm pretty positive that the drop outs will get cleared with Jack), but had terrible noise in the analog pins of the embedded Arduino, so I switched to Odroid.

With Odroid I think I'm having the best luck for now. It runs smoothly with the same sound card (Focusrite), with Jack, without drop outs (haven't tried duplex though, yet). It's got a powerful processor (4 cores running at 1.7 GHz). I'm planning on doing some heavy work with it. I'll post results when it's done.

I run the BeagleBoard with ccrma Satellite, but Udoo and Odroid with Debian, installing Pd from the Debian repos.

BBB works fine. full duplex makes no problem. i am very interrested if someone managed to get the dsp of the beagleboardXM working as an tilde-external processor.
