Mp3 playback on osx?
hello all,

It never worked for me in 3 years on osx, so it's not a simple solution. maybe a couple of osx users did manage to play mp3? ... best bet looks like [readanysf~] but i never managed to compile that on mac either.
convert your mp3's to aif. save yourself the headaches.
I have had limited success with [mp3play~]. It incorrectly identifies about 90% of the mp3s as unplayable mp2s, but it has worked for me. But hardoff is right- [readsf~] and/or [soundfiler] are much lighter on the cpu.
any technology distinguishable from magic
is insufficiently advanced.
I'm developing an app that contains a 4.80 second musical groove that loops. When played in Pd with au or aiff files the groove accurately loops. When I convert au or aiff files to mp3"s, the length varies by .05 seconds and the loops are glitchy. The mp3's played back using quicktime are not exactly the same length as the au or aiff files from which they were compressed. How do I get the mp3's to be exactly the same length as the au/aiff files? Thanks
that sounds like it might be a problem with the mp3 compression / decompression algorithm.
