So I'm just getting started on learning PD/GEM but there's only one problem... I installed GEM properly (placing the preference file in it's rightful folder) and when PD fires up, it detects GEM. However it can't create certain objects. Namely "create" and "destroy". Any suggestions? I'm totally new to this so I really have no idea how to troubleshoot it.

have you tried the extended release?
I had a few problems too untill i moved the prefs file from root to user or the other way round.

i think create and destroy are messages...geez so long since i've used gem..i hardly remember.

but yeah, instead of creating an object box, you should make a message box instead...and then it should work.

wicked! thanks hardoff that was totally it. that's kindof annoying that the GEM tutorial didn't specify that.

i have problems installing gem on osx 10.4. can anyonew explain how... it just doesnt open any extention in the gem folder. im quite new in this stuff....

mihas, did you copy the org.puredata.pd.plist file to the preferences folder? the preferences folder is on your system disk>user>library>preferences

the file is part of the package you get when you download GEM
