so, umm...
i've been away for 5 weeks in europe, soaking up some of that lovely UK sun (sarcasm intended)...and hanging out with heaps of people...
get home, and think i might have a bit of a play round with logic audio to do some sequencing or something....bad move!! i forgot how much traditional softwares suck arse.
then turn pd on, initially just to beat-sync some samples....and fuck me dead! i chuck a few samples into my pd mainframe patch, and it just clicks straight away.
here's what it spewed out today ...don't downlaod this if you're expecting the normal glitchy - experimental music shit,,,,,but you can really make pd break some balls if you want to:

-
Pd can do hardcore too
-
sick!
-
This is all I needed to hear: some balls-out-crazy Hardcore made with PD. Now I'm hooked;]
-
oh shit! i'm gonna get my ass kicked for the glitchy boredoms i've been doing lately. but i have an excuse! i'm learning how to use non 4/4 time sigs, and stereo effects and stuff.
will post some good results soon hopefully, or else add my nuts to the chopping block.
yarrgggh!!! -
That's awesome! I downloaded it a while ago and stumbled across it on a hard-drive cleanout session. Top work!
My only properly finished Pd track is at:
http://www.goedel.demon.co.uk/claudiusmaximus--moonlight-lens-flare--h ifi.mp3 (9.28MB, 320kbps)
It's "an inane 1980s dance remix" of Mike Oldfield's Moonlight Shadow, done for a competition at http://tfbfm.co.uk . Silly bouncy techno-rave! Featuring a dead president!
I wrote it in about 14 hours in one day, from the time the source mp3 finished downloading to the time the track was uploaded. That time included all patch programming, chopping up the source mp3 into lots of bits, practicing playing around with the patches, recording a 22min take of me playing around with it, and editing in Audacity those 22mins down to the 4mins final track. -
thanks mate...gonna nab yr track now....
will send you that cdr i promised soon. got a list of ppl to send stuff to, and i'm just too lazy to get around to doing it...well, too lazy or too tired from work....but the list is definateluy still here. -
hardoff - that's awesome. it makes me kinda wish i was still dating my ex so i could play that in the car with her and totally freak her out.
so.... how did you do that? was it samples and loops mangled in a PD progam that you wrote? (i'm mostly trying to figure out what kinda stuff pd is capable of) -
yeah, no secrets here mate...all samples in that track. all made in pd too. no other software, no post editing....(kinda shows right?)
basically about 3 or 4 samplers synced up to a master timer, plus one channel of phase vocoder for some of the long / dragged out effects, and then a pitch shifter with the delays multiplied about 100 times, and controlled by midi. the samples are kept in a bank, which i can scroll thru by hitting keys on the keyboard of my 'puter. qwertyui...etc
so yeah, basically samples triggered and fucked around by keyboard input and then pitch gone mental with midi
oh, also i drank about 3 beers and was pretty stoked up cos i just got back from wicked parties in london and austria and bulgaria and stuff.. -
hardoff
I'm sorry, I downloaded your song, very excited because of the comments but I can't hear it well, it seems like it were playing in a tape-recorder pushing the fast-forward button halfway... I tried with winamp, itunes, and Windows Media Player... What am I missing?
Thanks! -
Hardoff, will you accept to share your patch with us ?
It would be usefull for hardcore's lovers -
ok, first you need to get the playlist external, which unfortunately only works on osX and Linux. If you're on windows, i'm sorry. you can get it here (scroll down until you find "playlist")

Then there is my big messy patch, and there are no help files or anything....a lot of the processes are controlled by key commands which i remembered, but which aren't written down. i think it would be pretty much impossible for anyone to try to use.....but anyway, if you wanna have a look, here you go:
[url=http://www.m-pi.com/DADAizm.sitx ]http://www.m-pi.com/DADAizm.sitx
that's the whole folder containing this patch, plus all of its abstractions.
the main patch is called OBLIVION.pd
there are also some other patches in there, so maybe have a look round and you'll find something useful.
sorry, it's not user friendly. i'm a musician and not a programmer, so i only made my patches for myself. -
Great ! I don't know if we're going to use it correctly but it's a good stuff !
