Is it possible to use the octave doubler example that comes with PD to increase several octaves in this way or are there any other tutorials out there on increasing pitch without altering the timbre?

I'm ideally looking for a way to capture the timbre of a guitar - Any suggestions?

very dumb solution: chain a few octave-doubler-patches. (this actualy works, and sounds quite funny )

okay but what about increasing what you've recorded by say a flat 3rd or a 5th?

I can do it fine with a wave with a repeating pattern but with microphone capture *brain melt*

The easiest way to pitch shift is demonstrated in the G09 demo. The problem is that there's a tradeoff between maximum delay time and amplitude modulation. You can get smoother pitch shifting by detecting the period of the input signal and splicing quickly at a zero crossing, but I think this will be very difficult (even impossible?) to do in PD.

Hi, I've been looking at G06.octave.doubler and am wondering -- how would I go about making a version of this that does an octave shift even if the input audio is merely a 600hz osc~ ?

the method in G06 won't work for a sine wave. out of curiosity, why do you need to?
you could use a chebyshev polynomial to wave shape it up an octave though (see the help files for that as well)
