I am about to go absolutely bonkers. I've redownloaded and uninstalled every version of Pure Data. I was playing with Automatonism earlier today and the quantizer was working just fine. Now, when ever I send anything through it, all I get is crackles and static coming out the other side. Please help me. Im using Pd Vanilla on windows 11 and the zip file from the automatonism website. Please help I really like this software and want to keep using it.

@Buck Either Pd is struggling with audio or you have saved a set of parameters in automatism that are incorrect/out of range and overloading the output to the soundcard.
With main.pd loaded and not producing any sound open "Media" "Test Audio and Midi" from the top menu and test the audio with an audio tone..... if it is clean then Pd audio is good.
If not then restart Pd and do the same without loading anything...... again if the signal is clean then definitely you have a problem with automatism.

In that case download it again and start a new project.
It is a good idea to keep a clean copy of the automatism folder somewhere. You can then copy it into a new project folder for each new automatism project.

If audio is a problem without automatism running then the buffer from Pd to the soundcard is too small and you should try increasing the "Delay (msecs)" setting for Pd audiosettings. Or if your soundcard is Asio capable use the "Asio" setting for Pd audio.

Hi David, thank you so much for your reply. I tried everything you recommended and still got the same result unfortunately. I even tried using an audio interface I have to see if the sound card was the issue. Let me know if you have any other suggestions. I might have to switch over to VCV rack. Kind of bummed because I was really enjoying automatonism before it crashed on me.

Can you show the connections on the main automatonism window?!

@Buck As @tungee says. The quantizer audio [outlet~] is not "audio". It is control voltage.... "c v out" and that could be what you are listening to?

Did the test tone work properly though? Please post a screenshot of Pd audio settings and some details about your OS and backend audio drivers..... jack, portaudio asio, etc.

Yes whale, the module only works with with note outputs. Because of the nature of Automatonism, it takes everything in, but it only makes sense, when you input it with note sequencer outputs

Wow..... it was just one of those nights I guess..... I didn't put it together that quantizers need stepped signals. I was just sending it a clock

@Buck At least you didn't burn the house, smashed the computer and moved to a hotel with a brand new laptop to find that out.
