Woooooo so I figured out how to draw wave forms to graphic windows now my question is. How can I make this work ? I have run into issues while resizing the graphic array "tab" to fit its own window bounds. The normal way I would have gone about this would be to use a [cords....] object to adjust the bounds for the sub-patch but because I'm dealing with a graphic window a error is thrown stating the array can not be found.

The second screenshot is the result of a newly drawn wave form. You can see that whenever a new wave is loaded with a different sample length it has to be resized.

I should mention currently array1 is being resized correctly the problem is the graphic array "tab"
Any help or direction is appreciated.

@RetroMaximus If you want to keep your green canvas the same size (seems likely) and size the data to fit then I am pretty sure you need to scale the scalars on the y axis to fit.
So you need to scale this value......

It's hard to be sure without the patch.

@whale-av This is what happens if i set the scale value to 1. I was playing with this value at the beginning and 0.002 was the only value that made it actually look like a wave form. And now from the looks of the change Its like the waveform has been stretched. Im still in the same boat the waveform has to be resized.

@RetroMaximus Yes...... 1 is a pretty huge multiplyer.
If 0.002 fills half the canvas then 0.004 will be about right.
But you will need to calculate it from the total samples for it to work for any file........ unless there's another way.

Ok I think I'm picking up what your putting down. So after calculating that value I should be able to use a $1 in place of the 0.002 is what ur saying? And im guessing the inlet for plot takes floats? or a [pack f f] --[$1 $2<--[plot tab $1 1 0 0 $2] if i needed more then one dollar sign? first argument was changed for the plot object simply for an example.

No, the inlet just turns the plot on and off.
You will need to dynamically create [plot] once you have the value I think.
@ingox or @jona might have a better solution though.
You will need to put [plot] in a sub-patch and then send messges to the sub-patch to "clear" and then create a new plot.

I made a few updates and progress has been made. One issue left the functionality is there but I'm lost on the math.

Yes this is correct but how do i set the x range for a graphic array. If you happen to look at the patch I do have 2 arrays in total. One named array1 which is the main that "tab" the graphic array gathers data from. I tried using a variation of not this exact code but something similar I quickly copied a snippet as a example. And at that time the graphic array "tab" could not be found. So I thought the x range could not be set this way. If this is the right way to do it?

And now that I look at this screen shot the cords message would have been corrected to [s pd-WFormLine] and not [s pd-PlotControl]

tab does exist inside the struct i forgot to open it for the screen shot.

@RetroMaximus Yes, with [coords( to pd-WFormLine with 300 x 150 size, but 0 to sample size x-range should work.

Or with [donecanvasdialog( if coords don't has the range, not sure right now...

That way you would not need dynamic patching. You can try it manually with the properties dialog of the subpatch.

@RetroMaximus Here is how you can change the canvas size (which you don't want to do) and dynamically create a new [plot] object to the new scaling.......

Dynamic patching is very simple for objects like [plot] that have no connections to be remade after re-creation.

@ingox I was setting x range manually while testing I found that if I divide the total samples by 500 and used the result as the x-range value everything fit perfectly for every sample loaded. I just didnt know how to make it happen through a message.

I didnt know at the time of [change vis-size 0 $1< Im going to give that a shot now.

@whale-av While this is a heck of a lot cleaner then what i have down. It is partially incorrect I don't need to change the vis-size for the canvas as this is already being set in a smaller subpatch. I need to adjust the "visual size" of a graphic.

In other words what message can I use to change the x-range for pd-WaveFormLine.

@RetroMaximus Yes, and it might also work with x-spacing in plot 1 instead of 0.002 and not dividing the value by 500. Should be the cleanest way.
