Pure Data on Raspberry Pi 3
Hi guys!
I'm really a newbie on this and I'm afraid to broke something with a wrong instalation.
I just bought a Raspberry Pi 3, it came with Noobs, but a friend told me that I should install an OS that come already with PD installed.
I already wrote a patch on windows with PD_extended and now I would like to have it on Raspberry Pi 3, can anyone help me on this?

The only image for ARM that has Pd installed, that I'm aware of, is Satellite CCRMA. But again, I'm not sure it's still maintained. You can just download the sources from Pd's website and compile yourself. The INSTALL.txt file is pretty clear as to what you need to do to install it.
That's if you want the latest Pd. Otherwise you can just type this in a terminal:
sudo apt-get install puredata
which will probably give you an older version of Pd, like 0.46-2, or maybe 0.47, not sure. Still that should be good enough (especially if it's 0.47, cause it includes the deken plugin for easily installing externals).
@alexandros as of a couple of days ago the version that installs using that method is 0.46.
And can I do that on Raspbien OS? Or is it better to install Ubuntu OS?
@davidborrao I've only ever used Rapsbian, it seems to work well enough for me!
Do you know if I use “sudo apt-get install puredata” will it be the pd_extended Version? Or will I need to install libraries?

@davidborrao no, if you do "sudo apt-get install puredata" it's Pd Vanilla. might be worth making sure it's not already installed though, I think some Raspbian installs include it!
Raspbian has worked great for me with Pd...I dont have my linux computer on now so I cant tell you what version I have on there, but it is Vanilla.
Vanilla can be a pain when starting out because of the having to deal with the libraries, but it can also make things simpler an helps to figure out how to install and work with them.
In addition to terminal you can use the graphical file browser (I dont have NOOBS but I would assume this is the same for Raspbian Jessie/Stretch and Noobs..but maybe not).
If you click the top right of the GUI you get a menu and under one of those tabs is something that says "get software" or something...under Add or Remove Programs I think (sorry to be vague, this is from memory)
This allows you to access the respository of programs without Terminal.
You can ind Pd in there.
Also all the libraries.
I think you have to search them individually so maybe just start with what you think you want or need, you could base this on what you are using in Extended already. The reason for this is that there are a lot of libraries and downloading many of them this way can take a very long time.
I think it is pretty straighforward that way, esp with the graphical browser.

ah one more thing, Satellite CCRMA looks really great but I have found it to be very complicated and frustrating. of course, that could be me and not it! but I would try the simpler method first..
Installing Pd with apt-get gives you vanilla (which is better since Extended is no longer maintained), but there's a bunch of externals available from the repositories. Type this in a terminal:
apt-cache search ^pd-
and you'll get all the available externals (like pd-zexy, etc.). Then you can use apt-get install to install the ones you need.

I ran sudo apt-get install puredata but not i'm not finding the pd editor, it's not on the apps windows, can anyone help me?

It should be on one of the app groups on the top left part of the screen. Otherwise, open a terminal and type pd
i got a "ash: pd: command not found" 
That means that Pd is not installed in your system. Type this:
dpkg -s pd
and post the output here. If the package is installed, then this command will return an "installed ok", otherwise it will tell you that the specific package is not installed in the system.

It's a Raspberry Pi 1B+. But aren't they all ARMHF based?
Since you're the kind developer of Purrdata: why don't the old patches for Pd-extended work flawless? See this topic about the super great Miniwoog patch. I like to use the wonderful patches from http://www.pdpatchrepo.info/patches. But if they do not work anymore... For instance: from the Miniwoog patch the "on screen" keyboard does not work, neither can you load the presets. Sorry to bother you. Thank you for continuing the great Pd-extended work.
