Hi I have just joined the forum, wanted to say hello. Been using puredata for a couple of years and am a bit obsessed with it, have more ideas than patches though as I begin to get confused easily with complicated patches and stuff. Hopefully with the help of this forum along with youtube vids, a couple of books and countless hours of practice I should start to get somewhere! Cheers

Hello

@joedata24 Welcome to the forum for confused obsessives!
You will get plenty of help that will clear a path through the confusion.
Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about the obsession......

@whale-av Couldn't say it better!

@whale-av I think the obsession stems from fascination, knowing the sheer amount of possibilities at my fingertips I cant help but want to jump in and try to create things. My current thing is generating Fibonacci sequences, I have worked out how to generate it but struggling to think of creative ways to implement it. I had a sudden realization that unless I am using the specific properties of the sequence I could use any exponential number pattern. I was interested in the specific properties of the Fibonacci sequence when observing its occurrence in natural patterns and wanted to create some sort of blossoming visuals and/or audio patch. Just a thought

@joedata24 Plenty of help for Pd Fibonacci via Google.
For audio..... as you say..... limitless but where to go?
For visuals.... beware.
You will probably need GEM which is included with Pd Extended...... unless you know "Processing" or want to learn.
Getting it to work with Pd Vanilla can be difficult...... but not always impossible. It can be achieved for Windows but not necessarily for other operating systems.
In "extended" this folder........ Pd/extra/Gem/examples/13.recursion........ is a "must read" for your project.
You should work through the examples to gain an in depth understanding.
Then check out the PMPD library in extended. It has tools for gravity / mass modelling that are stunning.
