I could load jpg files but I cannot open any png files with pix_image of particles.
I guess this problem comes from windows. cuz my friends using Mac did well with loading png files.
How can I solve this problem? I really want to load png files....

@Insane_Kim0112 I am using windows 7....... and I can load .png files in extended and vanilla using pix_image.
What more information do you have...... windows version, error messages in the terminal window, etc. -
@whale-av Thanks for replying! Mine is window 8 and one of my friend with Window 10 also has same problem. I have no problems with loading jpg file but if I try to load png files, writing [ pix_image 'filename. png' ] between [part_render] and [pix_texture], message like 'failed to load image' came up in console and image is not loaded.... And at the first opening PD, I can see the gem message on console like " Image loading support: SGI jpeg tiff " ....

@Insane_Kim0112 I have never seen Pd list a .png in the terminal window (along with jpg, quicktime etc.) but usually it still works.
I have seen posts where "Quick Picture Viewer" has caused problems, sometimes alongside a Windows Update........ and where installing their Codec Pack has solved the problem....... https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-pictures/windows-photo-viewer-stopped-opening-png-files/a8db9335-2278-4058-807e-894143f9518b
