Hi,

I'd like to bring to everyone's notice that PD is unable to start on Raspberry Pi 3 (latest) running NOOBS (version 1.9.1) Raspbian Jessie. The following error is shown:

"Error in startup script: couldn't read file "/usr/lib/puredata/tcl//pd-gui.tcl": no such file or directory
watchdog: signaling pd..."

If you see carefully, the file location has a double slash before pd-gui.tcl "/usr/lib/puredata/tcl**//**pd-gui.tcl". I'm guessing that that's the reason why the file is not accessible.

How could that double slash be fixed?

There is no folder named tcl in /usr/lib/puredata/

I tried reinstalling PD, but in vain. This problem is not there in older RPi running NOODS 1.5.0 Raspbian Jessie.

How did you install Pd, via apt-get or did you compile it yourself?

@alexandros I used apt-get. Should I try compiling it rather?

@tejas If you can live with "extended" which might not be "up to date" but is pdg (pretty damn good) then have a look at this post where some success has already been had..........

Something strange must have happened with your installation cause this file should probably be there. Not sure how you can handle this issue, maybe try to re-install Pd with "apt-get install --reinstall puredata".
You can try to download the latest vanilla from Miller's website (he has a version for the Pi) and compile that. Mind that you first need to type this:
apt-get build-dep puredata
and then follow the instructions. The installation instructions miss the last step, which is:
sudo make install
which will install all the necessary files system-wide.

@alexandros I had been trying apt-get install pd, which doesn't install pd correctly. I just tried apt-get install puredata, and it has worked fine!

Yes, didn't mention it. Thought it was obvious from the apt-get build-dep puredata that it's also apt-get install puredata and not apt-get install pd
