Any advice or ideas on how to synthesize a signal from an image, a la Photosounder (or any of the others)?
Not sure if there's already an existing external or object for generating a whole lot of sines...

Hi all,
Does anyone know of existing designs to mirror the state of physical patch cables in a Pd patch? In other words, I'm going to have an installation with a bunch of physical patch cables plugged in between various pods and I'd like them to control a Pd patch.
So far I've been thinking I could generate different PWM signals at each unique cable source and measure them at each receiving socket, then send the graph data to the computer and use dynamic patching to control the patch. However, I'm wary of using dynamic patching in a production environment—any thoughts?

Hi all, I'm attempting to build a new front-end for a running Pd instance using a socket connection and the "FUDI" internal messages for modifying patches (i.e. 'pd-patch obj 0 0').
My question is this: the front-end has to have access to a database of sorts of what objects are available for use and how many inlets and outlets they have. Any ideas on how to do this just over a socket? I've been sifting through the undocumented commands here but haven't found anything that will send back a listing of objects (and even then, I'm not sure how I'd connect Pd's log output back to the socket).
How does the standard Pd interface do it? Will I just have maintain my own, hand-coded database of objects?

Perhaps some of you have seen this:
If not, it's amazing. Anyone have any insight into how one might get object positions? I know you can get the positions of canvas objects but I would need a way for an abstraction to know its position from its parent's frame of reference... if you have any ideas, I'd be all ears!!

I see Sinesum but that seems to be oriented around an origin frequency and its partials, whereas I'd need an arbitrary number of arbitrary frequencies. I feel like [rifft~] would be appropriate for this but I don't really understand it yet ^_^

So you're using netreceive to listen to a network port, and using the Ethernet Arduino library to write strings to that port? Do you have the right port specified in Pd? When you say you modified the chatserver program, do you mean you added lines to print the same data to the serial port?

The nominal baud rate of MIDI is 31250 bps. Each 10-bit message is transmitted in 320 µs. 128 note-on messages comprises just about 41 ms. YMMV of course. I would imagine this would only be an issue if you were doing it repeatedly, fast.
