How do you get around the "error: array2: number of points (xxxxxx) not a power of 2 plus three" when using tabread~?

I've loaded the same beat into other peoples pd patches using tabread~ for playback (even showing the same number of points in their array) and it works fine.

What exactly is the [swap 1] doing in this context?

Can someone explain to me how the [pack 0 50] "makes a ramp to avoid clicks or zipper noise"?

When I load a sample into an array I would like to have a slider automatically update it's range to match the sample.
How do I do this?

edit: ok I found the arraysize function, but how do I tell a slider to set it's range accordingly?
