Would anyone know of any gem patch audio visualizers, available to download and play with? :)

Okay I've set up a few paths including:

    bin/Gem/examples
    bin/Gem/abstractions
    bin/Gem
    bin/Gem/help
    root/pd/externals

Hopefully you can see that the objects are now recognized, so thats good.

if I want to right clicked to access a help file, hopefully you can see in the picture, within the pd window you may notice it says "sorry, couldn't find help ..." despite the path being in place?

If I want a help file I have to go through my file system and find the patch I want from within the Gem directory in bin which obviously isn't as convenient.

is there some knowledge im clearly missing here?

    I've downloaded gem via:
    git clone https://git.iem.at/pd/Gem.pd

i then put the Gem directory in the bin directory.

After that inside the Gem folder I ran ./autogen.sh

    then:
    ./configure
    ./make
    ./make install

    I then also ran:

    ./make
    ./make install

...in the source file, (to make sure :S)

i then opened pd from the terminal with:

    pd -lib Gem

and the pd window says the following

    IMG_20190925_205700.jpg

.....so it looks like thats what you need to do to install gem at least on arch linux, however.

objects such as [gemhead] are recognized but they dont generate a help file?
...and unfortunately [gemwin] isnt recognized as an object at all, confusingly.

May someone interrogate my process here to potentially bring some light on these issues?

… well perhaps but what is also confusing is that the same col will still turn the volume up and down, so the pd patch knows the grid interface is there, just no feedback from the leds? it looks like so atm: Screen Shot 2019-04-24 at 14.12.11.png

I've designed a patch on OSX, it successfully runs on raspbian pi. Accept the lights of a fader on designed for the monome grid interface won't light up? Why would this happen when Other lights do light up when expected? Heres the patch if its required: https://wetransfer.com/downloads/596c2114613328e175388c01f207b49f20190424121908/3db3a0

okay i might go for this usb dongle ? If it works for you? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Enttec-DMX-USB-Pro-Dongle/dp/B00BXLVC5C/ref=sr_1_1?adgrpid=54714809418&hvadid=259059404116&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9045628&hvnetw=g&hvpos=1t1&hvqmt=e&hvrand=13579968977170823871&hvtargid=kwd-299931361842&keywords=enttec+dmx+usb+pro&qid=1556099008&s=gateway&sr=8-1

Im not sure how to confirm that this will work with comport?

Also, it won't necessary to by three DMX dongles because you can connect the lights together using there DMX outputs?

Which pd files is the main I should open with the zip file you sent?

I just needed someone to confirm that this patch is in place or not to load samples into a table? I've left it for a couple of weeks when it was working and come back and it's not clear to me now?

I shared a pd file. The "sampleredit.pd" patch is responsible for loading | playback of the sample. The audio im using is numbered ie. 1.wav 2.wav. Near the green button in sampleredit.pd is a number object. for example, you would place 1 in the number object and hit the green button and voila! but not on this occasion?sampleredit.pd

I'm using PD with the monome hardware. So Im interested to run pd without the need for its GUI.
Would someone mind making it clear to me, how I can run a PD patch wit a terminal command and without the GUI?

    Many thanks,

That would be Grand! Heres a we transfer link to the zip file: https://we.tl/t-VabcpoAqF9. Prac.pd is the parent patch. if you then open "sampler 1" and then "pd gridcontrol" the code commented "Display Playback On Led" is the area we're focused on. Many thanks!

I tried what you've shown my here. $1 is the number of sampler so in this case one is in the correct place. Its in exactly the same place as the one in /monome/grid/led/row 0 1 0 0 .and is the same value but for some reason this message doesn't work? Screen Shot 2019-01-26 at 01.16.27.png currently look like so...In every case of $1 I need one to be referring to the number given to sampler
