Wow, thanks for the code, sumidero. I ran it without troubles on the L2Ork version of Pd, the example worked fine. I'll look into it more seriously after I return from the Linux Audio Conference.

Just a quick note of appreciation ad encouragement for you folks working on GLSL stuff for Pd. I'm an avid user of Jean-Pierre Lemoine's AVSynthesis, a program that combines OpenGL graphics manipulations with audio by Csound. It's a powerful combination that I'd love to see available on Pd.

I now have my Webcam and my miniDV camera working with 64-bit Pd-extended (L2Ork edition) on Arch Linux with a 3.0 kernel. The solution was straightforward enough: I compiled and installed the latest GEM (0.93.3, I think), after making sure that its configuration included support for my V4L2 and IEEE1394 devices. Now I can run the SimpleVideo GEM example and switch between the devices. However, I have to use a message box to specify /dev/fw1 as the Firewire device, after a quick 'chmod 666 /dev/fw1'. The old device selection won't work with the new FW stack in the kernel. I hope that information helps others with similar problems.

@Jwif - Ah, okay, I'll do that. Thanks for the heads-up, I assumed devs were reading this stuff too.

    Greetings,

No solution here, just the same problem on a 64-bit Arch Linux system with Pd-L2Ork. The webcam works fine in Cheese and about any other relevant app, but I get no joy in Pd. Anyone have a suggestion for fixing the problem ? Btw, I built Pd-L2Ork from sources, if it makes a difference.

    Best,

    dp
