i'm curious about which audio interfaces you've had success with and what methods you've used to connect the less compatible interfaces.
in addition, i'm considering picking up an Mbox 2 Pro for some other projects, but haven't used it with pd yet. Anyone know if the issues people had back with the first Mbox have been resolved yet?
any thoughts would be appreciated! thanks

Another good one for analyzing your input is "env~". It's an amplitude in db, and it puts it in a range of 0 - 100. Just divide it by 100 and you can get a range of 0 - 1. If you need to analyze the volume of one moment relative to the next, this works well.

After you asked about my OS, I did some research and it looks like my OS is going to be the main problem, not pd. The laptop I was hoping to run an audio interface on is running XP Media Center, which is pretty much void of compatibility with most audio interfaces (Digidesign, M-Audio, MOTU, RME and just about everything else). "Media Center" is a bit misleading. I'll be steering clear off of this OS in the future. ..
If anyone else is having Media Center woes, Sweetwater has put up a list of companies you'll have trouble with if you are running that OS:
