Hello everyone,
I am currently working on an explosion patch and I have got the core sound working. I am now trying to give it some interactive parameters so that the user can shape the sound through sliders.
My problem is that I am currently trying to alter the release time of my sound so that it can be shaped from a long explosion to a short, more gun-like shot.
I have linked a copy of my envelope abstraction that is multiplied with the noise generator. As you can see, the inlet is wired to two separate message boxes. One is the {0 1,} and the other is a {o $2} box. The second box with the $2 is the one I am trying to control using the slider above. If I enter any number without the $ sign instead of the $2, the release works fine, but I want to make it so that the release number can be changed by the slider.
I am fairly knew to Pure data so I am sure there is something wrong with how I am going about doing this, but please let me know if you can spot a mistake, or if you have any suggestions on how I can acheive this through a different approach.

@MatteoC47 Hello Matt...... Usually "argument out of range" means that the [pack] object does not have the same number of variables as the [message( that it feeds into..........so.....
[pack s f s f]
should be followed by......
[$1 $2 $3 $4( and if you put a $5........... you will see "argument out of range" in the terminal as the $5 will receive no value.........
But...........[pack] will not "pack" the message until it gets a "bang"....... or in fact "anything" on its left inlet (see the help file for what actually "happens").... and then it will execute..........

I have put a trigger so that the new data from the slider forces [pack f f] to output.........

If you are indeed new to Pd...... I always recommend http://puredata.info/docs/manuals/pd/x2.htm up to..... but not including chapter 2.9...... as great bedtime reading!!
