I used to vj a lot, but recently I came across pure data and I am totally taken by this aesthetics. But since I am the beginner I have a question :: does anyone know how to connect gem with external music.
I mean something like this

This one is mine and I really like to synchronize motion graphics with external audio source in real time.

hard to tell just by watching the videos. If you supply some patch, it will be easier for someone to give some advice.
As a general rule, I'd say that whether you use samples for your sound, or oscillators, the driving force is [phasor~] which you can use for your graphics by sending its signal to [snapshot~] which you can bang with [gemhead] to get its location on every frame.
This is very general of course, so if you'd like, post the patch you want to sync with audio..

I am almost certain there is at least one way to do what you want to do.

I haven't done much at all with gem yet, so I don't have any advice to offer other than read the manual. I found one online that was pretty good a while back. Don't have a link for it at this point, though.
