With Ewolverine you can genetically breed sounds, beats, melodies etc. out of your vst's or hardware midi gear.
Imagine a synthesizer that span's a multidimensional space that contains parameter combinations resulting in sounds.
Ewolverine helps you, via listening back and interpolating between random sounds of your synth, to automatically adjust the synthesizer's paramters to result in a sound that fits your needs.
To do so, it uses a genetic algorithm to interbreed parameters according to the Mendelian Laws Of Inheritance.
You cannot change a given synthesizer - you can only evolve it's parameters. That's called Micro-Evolution. Darwin's thoughts regarding Macro-Evolution would equal a change of the whole synthezier, that you can't change genetically, because you cannot dock Ewolverine's genetic algorithm to the program code of the synth itself (which had to be programmed, by the way). Ewolverine doesn't prove Evolution, like some people already euphoricly wanted to conclude on the fair I firstly presented it. It the more proves that an intelligence is needed to program a genetic algorithm and a synthesizer to use it on.
This program can really startle your philosophically trained mind, I tell you!

Now you can use Ewolverine to re-synthesize a sample with any synth you own. Of course not every synth is able to convincingly synthesize any sound, but you can now get as close as possible with it. Just loop back the audio of your DAW into PureData using a virtual audio cable and send MIDI from PureData to your DAW using a virtual MIDI cable and let Ewolverine do the rest!
The re-synthesizing of samples using Ewolverine can take VERY long and I don't guarantee you that it works good, but as it is a free patch, see it as a Bonus!

• bugfix: prevent a newly audible sound from being selected after manually stopping the target drive
• simulated annealing in target drive mode: span "temperature" value onto fitnesslandscape and decrease step length (modwheel) and probability value in the splice-pattern-generator the closer the fitness gets to optimal fitness value
• interactive mode: automatic narrowing of the range of generated parameter values around a mean value that's derived from the repeated selection of similar values of individual parameters throughout the generations (increases the number of similar sounds per generation that are located around a certain coordinate in parameter space; increases the likelihood of the generation of the desired sound in a smaller amount of time)
• stop-condition for automatic stopping of target drive
• make default settings for modwheel-position, splice-pattern-generator's probability, anti-stuck and allowed minimum fitness value in target drive adjustable from GUI
• adjustable MIDI output message blocker (useful for instruments with a fixed MIDI implementation, for instance: If you want to breed a bass drum in a drum synth with multiple instruments, you may not want to ruin the parameter adjustments of the snare drum meanwhile you're selecting for good bass drums)
• storage for self-created splicer patterns (maybe in connection to the MIDI output message blocker)
• low-value-weighted probability for the generation of MIDI-CC-values in new populations; switchable per MIDI-CC either manually or randomly (increases the probability for the generation of short attack and decay values in synth's envelopes)
• bigger populations for each sound-set: 4 more random sounds per set (A/B) to select from
• discontinuous MIDI messaging interrupted by assignment switching CC events (special build for FM-Heaven) - low priority
• possibility to interpolate between new random population's sounds to smoothly re-direct the modwheel-morphing path while morphing
• selection-history recorder that one can use to re-load the selected sounds of each past generation
• a visualizer that generates a "tree of life" from directions (keys C,D,E,F) and steplengths (modwheel) of formerly selected individuals and their respective distances to their parent sounds

Here's a video. Not the best quality, but you'll get the essence.
Ewolverine works like a Biomorphs-program with sounds. It generates random presets and interpolates between selected individual ones in a dominant-recessive or intermidiate way.

@elden Thank you sir! Now I understand, so you can drive the synth by using a note loop (in your video quite short C3) and Ewolverine is then mapped to CC for this synth.

Exactly, but you don't have to create a loop, if you rout a keyboard into your synth. You just have to make sure, that the synth only gets note events from your keyboard - not the CCs, as those are coming from Ewolverine.
You can also control Ewolverine with your keyboard. Just scroll to the right to read the MIDI implementation chart.

I noticed that breeding MIDI CC# parameter values under 10 is very difficult as minimal values tend to blend back into the population, but minimal values are important for envelope parameters like attack and decay. I'll have to patch an option to weigh the randomization of parameter values for each CC# so they tend to generate smaller numbers.
And a much bigger population of at least 12 sounds would be helpful. Will take a while...
