Connecting external camera to pd
Hi there.

ok, is there anyone who have experience with using external cameras other than web cams?
the first sentence in pix_video help patch :
"[pix_video] opens a wide array of cameras, USB to FireWire to capture cards, as long as the camera is supported by your operating system"
do anyone knows something about this?
Hei maretom
well, if you want to connect through hdmi or any other "cabled" way, you need a capture card.
if you want to use wifi (maybe a bit unstable) you may want to watch this:
Since i never got the VLC backend to work in OSX i use this to grab any window into pd as a virtual webcam:

hi Johnny.
thanks for answering.
i know for that first link, i managed to do that. it is really cool. but, you can grab that window to pd.
im using w8 system.
cam studio is for mac only or?
so...
i did some research...
here is what worked for me:
download and instal VLC player and manycam software.
than wach this video :
this video shows you how to grab go pro wifi signal in to the VLC player and than, to grab that signal in to the manycam.
than you use [device $f( message foe pix_video object in pd to grab manycam picture in pd. for me [device 3( is doing a job.
nice ha?
hood luck !
You are going to have to buy these cables
and a video capture card
once the drivers are installed for the capture card, pd recognizes it just like it would recognize any other webcam
thanks.
but i wonder, why gopro was made like that_?
i mean, you have to bu all that to connect it with computer but you can connect it with TV with just normal HDMI cable...
why?
hm.....
