Hey guys;

I've just got my hands on an Arduino and have started having a little play with it.

And managed to get that simple patch working. I've modified the PD patch a little to trigger the LED on port 9 when a bang connected to a kick drum is hit:

This works, but I've now hit a road block.
I'd like 1 bang (Kick) to trigger 1 LED on port 9 as it is at the moment, but I'd also like another bang, connected to a snare to trigger another LED on port 8.
I've absolutely no idea how to do this. I'm sure it's not too hard but I'm very inexperienced with coding. I've tried searching Google, Arduino forum and this one here, but no success.
I've given it a go at writing the code but it's not working and I'm not sure what more I need to add to PD.

But it doesn't work. I've a little bit of experience with coding Processing, but no idea when it comes to Arduino.

Please please can someone help me out here?

You can send ASCII values to Arduino. For example the letter L could turn LED on pin 9 on, M could turn it off, N could turn LED on pin 8 on and O could turn it off. The ASCII values of these letter are 76, 77, 78 and 79 respectively. So in Pd you do something like this:

[x] <- This is a toggle
|
[sel 0 1]
| |
[77( [76(
| /
| /
[comport]

This is for the LED on pin 9. You do duplicate all but [comport] and change the values for the other LED.
On the Arduino side you do something like this:

if (incomingByte == 'L') {
digitalWrite(9, HIGH);
} else if (incomingByte == 'M') {
digitalWrite(9, LOW);
} // here you repeat this process with the letters 'N' and 'O' instead and digitalWrite goes to 8
}

This block of code takes care of turning the LED on pin 9 on and off. Mind the single quotes on L and M. This tells Arduino to translate the incoming number as ASCII. This should work...

Unfortunately this didn't work for me. I copied everything you did into a new project; but when I hit the toggle it turned the LED on, but wouldn't turn it off again on 2nd click

Hi Alexandros - would this patch work for sending data to a Rainbowduino? I'm trying to get a basic patch working to access the lights on the 8x8 Matrix that fits on top of the Rainbowduino -- it's pretty cool little thing!

An LED matrix is a different story cause you need quite some digital pins to control it, or a couple of shift registers. Do you have any example code for this shield you're using?
If you want to send several values to your arduino from Pd and them route these values to several variables, Serial.partseInt() is your friend.
