I have a [pack] that packs three floats. When I run it through [pipe] the only thing left is the first float. I checked it with a super simple patch and it always does it.

Now how do I fix that? I need to delay that packed info going into a [spigot] to avoid false triggering my output. I looked at trigger and couldn't see how to use it in this instance.

so, one of the floats opens and closes the spigot? in that case, you'd be better off putting that float as the first one and using [route]

if that doesn't help, post your patch here and we'll sort u out.

try replacing [pack f f f]--[pipe 100] with [pipe f f f 100]

pipe can only handle one type of message, which is annoying

but, [trigger] is really a better solution, under almost all circumstances, especially if the delay is 0.

Sorry for the delay. I ended up putting a [pipe] in each of the three data lines that get packed. That seemed like the quickest, least painful, way to do it. I will attach a zip of the patch so you all can critique it. In order to actually make it work you need to get the TUIO simulator from http://mtg.upf.edu/reactable/?software

in general, never do what you just did unless you really cannot think of another way to do it. pd does have a very logical system for triggering and storing data. in almost 100% of cases you will not have to use delays or pipes to achieve the correct trigger order.

the quick mod i just did should do what you wanted without the pipe.

Rats, and I was so proud of that, too. I guess that comes from being a total noob to PD and really to this kind of programming. About the closest I've come is writing macros in Excel. It's gonna take a while to learn these new commands.

Having said that, I think I see how the changes you made work and why. Now I need to put the Fon and Foff detection back in place and I should be good to go.
