Ok, have been aiming for bufferless soundplayer but for now will go along with xgroove~ or xplay~. Requesting procedure for creating buffers for these to hold aiff soundfiles (or like wav). thnks

Buffer

for bufferless, check [readsf~]
with a buffer, check [soundfiler] and then something liek [tabplay~] or [tabread4~] if you want to change speed.

thanks much dude, tables are sweet, still pinpointing speed control. k

There *was* something called [sfread~] that had variable speed and direction from a file read for .wavs
* It seems to have vanished and I got rather confused because of the very close naming to [readsf~], but if you can find it, that's the one to use. Maybe the best functionality of
both was subsumed into [readanysf~], which is supposed to handle many formats. Unfortunately I couldn't compile this on my current machine because of lib clashes and a potential dependency hell to sort it out.Use the Source.
