Hmmm so I've been trying to record with Pix_record, and though the console seems to verify my correct usage of the object, I get no movie file in the end.

Is it because I'm on windows?

I have a sinking feeling...

The patch creates some cool visuals, so I'd be double happy to see it actually record something- screen caps programs are such a mess!

this question comes up now and again...how to save gem activity as a .mov or .avi etc. --- it stumps me too so I tried work arounds like using gridflow objects like [#from_pix] and then record with [#record] ... now I just use screen recordings which as you say isn't the best but I wonder if someone could clarify 100 % how to use the [pix-record] object? Thanks all (ubuntu user so I don't think this is windows specific)

I hate to echo the last response... but screen capture wins.
I never got pix_record to work on linux - didn't even try on windows.
With screen capture, you get audio AND video.

Here's an example of some harsh sig2pix I did a few months ago. Expression encoder did a great job at 15 fps.

I don't suppose I can see your patch can I? I rather like both the sounds and the results

Here it is. Kind of a messy patch: I use two screens. There are way too many oscillators. It sounds crazy because the block size is set up for visuals and ruins the audio. My favorite idea was using video effects in a feedback chain on the audio. So pix_convolve is messing with the oscillators.

I find that when the oscillators are very close to an exact multiple of the sample-rate divided by the block size (or something like that, idk), it looks & sounds cool. I have yet to try new waveforms with filters. I think that would be cool to modulate a filter on a square-wave that's tuned to the block-size.
