It seems that pix_record only records video or picture images, but I want to record other things like color squares and things.
How do i do this?

i can't seem to get this to work.
could you attach a patch that has an example of this?
thanks -

Thanks sonofsol, that was just what I was looking for today.
Great job on your GEM engine. I think it would be awesome to have 3d controllers for the pd stuff. My main synth patch is about 4 screens wide by 2 screens high. Not that there are there that many controls but there are that many things between the controls. It would be nice to just make a slick 3d control interface. I can imagine a block sequencer haha! Now I have my video and audio recorded. I tried to open the video in microsoft movie maker. Codecs not installed. The video opens in VLC. The video also opens in Sonic Foundry Acid 3.0 but is shorter duration in than the audio. The video barely records at 12 frames per second. While controlling audio. The computer almost hangs up if I select mpg instead of video. VLC reports the fps as 24.788104. I used the default video as the codec at 12fps.
How do I get the video synced with the audio?
Where are the qff codecs for Windows so I can use microsoft movie maker?
What is a better program for editing videos to send to youtube?
I would like to keep my audio in a lossless format at 48k. -
i use camstudio to record movies from the gemwindow. it supports all kinds of codecs at better framerate. it doesnt work for audio though, -at least for me. i guess you will have to record audio seperatly and get the tracks together in the compositing.
and about GL GUi - im working on some stuff. its really annoing to see how much tcl/tk eats of the cpu for a few fast changing atoms. -
Thanks again. I downloaded it. I figured out how to sync the audio and video with SF acid 3.0. I had to beatmap the audio and choose to not stretch the pitch when tempo changes. Then adjust tempo till the ends of the audio and video lined up. I'm not sure which got stretched in the export. It output a 2G file thats crazy considering the sum of the 2 files were no more than 200MB.
Here's a video

looks cool!
2GB for a video like that sounds like videocodec = uncompressed. -
Thanks. Yeah it was an uncompressed codec. I'm wondering now what is the best codec to use with Pure Dyne? One similar to the quicktime codec set to video on windows. The dialog seems to be broken on Pure Dyne. I might need to upgrade PD.
