Hi, I'm preparing a project with a dancer, and we would like to experiment with ANIMATA and play with live animation...
For the moment I've found eyesweb, that it's not so complicate for tracking mouvement and draw the skeleton of the dancer and then trough OSC and a little PD patch send the info to animata...
But the problem is that I'm on a MAC and eyesweb is for PC... so everything is complicated..

My question is.. someone has develpped something similar to eyesweb... I know that with PD we can do this... but i don't know how to start... and i need some help... If someone is interesting we can create a really interesting patch for the PD users...

hi! im working on also on a dance project and tried some tracking software like eyesweb, openCV. i couldnt find something similar to the skeleton tracking in eyesweb, wich is a great tool for these things. if you need that, why dont you use a pc for the tracking and send data via network to your mac?

yes, openni usertracker and OSCeleton- https://github.com/Sensebloom/OSCeleton
are for pc. there is very good Mac driver https://github.com/jmpelletier/jit.freenect.grab, working with max/msp, and some patches as well.Unfortuately, I have pc...

Maybe someone will write something like jmpelletier Jitter external that uses the libfreenect library to grab frames from a Kinect device? and for pc as well. To difficult for me

Other new features:
* Added support for multiple sensors.

hello there,

without any background at all, i got skeleton tracing from kinect working with puredata in a day. so yes it's possible, yes it's precise, and yes it's for mac (i have it working for snow leopard).
here are great instructions, that work everytime. homebrew IS better in this case than macports. if you have any question about it ask me
