I'm finishing up an ambisonic 2D panner abstraction, and I have a [coll] object storing grid points. In an attempt to make this abstraction dynamic, the coll is written as [coll $0-gesture.coll]. Even though the file doesn't exist, the abstraction seems to be writing the points somewhere, as it is able to play them back. While I shouldn't complain, as it seems to be working - my question is, where are the points being written to?

It's not writing them to the disk. It will only do that if you send it a [write( message. It's just temporarily storing them in memory, just like sound files in [table].

Edit: And unless there is another [coll $0-gesture.coll] in your patch (I don't see one) you don't need the name to distinguish it. Each [coll] is already unique. Giving it a name is only necessary when you DON'T want them unique (i.e. when you want several [coll]s to read the same data).
