So after using Google's search function to find a solution to this problem, I read a few topics relating to PureData Extended and TouchOSC for the iPod...and honestly, it's extremely frustrating.

PD to my DAW using Midi-Yoke works fine, but TouchOSC to PureData doesn't work at all. It doesn't detect anything. I downloaded the .pd files from the hexler website and opened the layouts according to the layouts on the iPod. It's pissing me off.

Two hours of trying out all of this and nothing happens. Please, somebody help.

Make sure firewalls are off.

make sure port numbers are the same, and not being used by any other application.

make sure you start the server before the clients.

upload your patch, let me see what you've done wrong.

Okay. I didn't really mess with the patch at all, I just downloaded it from Hexler.

And about the port numbers...is it that 'clip' button thing? And I'm guessing the 'server' is PD right?

Also, I'll explain my previous set-up on TouchOSC.
Host: 192.168.0.114
Port (Out): 8000
Port (In): 9000
Local IP address: 192.168.0.114

Is that how it should look?

hey synesthesia, upon rereading of my post I realised it may have sounded a little patronising. lately, I've become a little sharp in my online mannerisms. I don't know what this means about the offline me(!)

your patch looks fine. Unless the namespaces in TouchOSC are different from the ones you are recieving in PD. to check this, connect a [print] to [dumpOSC 8000] it will print out every OSC message cming into port 8000. You want to see /fader1 /toggle1 e.t.c. if it's compatible with your patch. if you move stuff on touchOSC and you see nothing coming into PD this way, then you know you aren't connected.

If you're getting nothing, It's possibly because you haven't set the correct IP address. Both devices need to be on the same network (or over the internet), then the destination IP is that of the computer with the PD patch.
