I've been messing with pd for about three years and I have had a lot of fun making generative instruments and the like. Right now I am trying to create a loop based instrument that will allow me to scub loops while they are looping. I've had the most sucess driving a tabread4~ with a phasor, and then switching to the fader-control manually however this is not ideal for my purpose. My most recent attemps is to reset the phase of the phasor in real time by scaling the 0-127 of my cc message to 0-180, but once the phase is reset, the sample doesn't pickup looping right where I left off scrubbing. I have thought about outputting an index (0-127) to the pc1600 so that as I move the fader, the index is updated and used to play the loop. This seems foolish though; because of the need for a 'signal' to control the tabread~.

Any hints?

i do something similar with my live patch, and the solution i got was just to use 2 phasors, one which is set to play the loop, and another one to do the scrubbing. then a quick crossfade between them to avoid clicks and irregularities.

Heres a toy for doing exactly that but with .wav files from disk using [sfread~],
Its a little abstraction to make a wacky turntable, load a wav file and you can
do scratch effects, back spins and so on. Maybe that inspires you on how to add together signals to make the position "phasor" do what you want.
