Has anyone else seen a bug where pd starts reiterating everything that gets typed, making it impossible to keep typing input without shutting down the run-time?
It even happens with Ctrl+C and V, pasting 3-5 of whatever you're copying.

Yep on a release candidate version for me. (0.42.5 rc3 on osx)
When I restart pd it works nice then. What is your pd version ?

I had similar prob on Win7. Iinstalling pd to path without spaces helped...

No spaces in my path. It's C:/pd/0425.

maybe you should try 0.41.4 which is the last stable release
