About switch~...
If I send a 0 to a switch~, does that subpatch stop consume CPU?
Johnathan Noé and I are working on a multieffect patch. We need to switch between different effects (a lot) to select one, but we can't use only a [*~ 0] to mute all the others... because they all would consume CPU all the time. If switch~ prevents to consume CPU, it would be the solution. Does it?

if it's your audio processing that needs cpu time, [switch~] will help. If it's your message processing that hogs the cpu, [switch~] won't help.

I think that it is audio processing... but I don't know what is "message processing". Can you explain it to me? Thank you very much.

In PD, audio usually goes through thick cables and tilde objects (like [*~]) and messages go through thin cables and non-tilde objects (like
- ). [switch~] only turns off audio processing.
