Hi all,

a canvas created by the 'put' pulldown or <shift><ctrl>c has send- and receive-symbol options in the properties. I wouldn't figure out how it works. I would like to send colors by messages to the canvas put my trial-and-error approach so far only renders error messages.
Further, how can such a canvas send any data? It can't be clicked and it has no connections.

Oops I just figured out the receive part myself - but what about the send-symbol part?

for example you can send a [get_pos( message to a canvas to get it's x and y position within a subpatch. the x and y values will be send with the send function of the canvas.

well, i experienced the same, when i began with pd some months ago. think, it's quite impossible to know all objects but with time, you will know the most usual ones, i think.

I am trying to figure out how to get the coordinates of a canvas in a subpatch and getting frustrated. I am trying to use |; TEST get_pos( and then having a |r TEST| object. Yes, I am placing the receive and the send variables for the canvas to TEST.

Any ideas of what I am doing wrong?

I am unpacking the receive object to two floats. Help?

Looking at that now and cannot seem to figure out what I am doing wrong.
